How Can I Become A Christian?

God loves you and desires a personal relationship with you—now, and for all eternity.

The Bible says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

                                                                                                                                                        John 3:16

People are by nature sinful. God is by nature sinless. His holiness, perfection and justice require that He be separate from sin. Therefore, unless we find a way to be cleansed from our sins, they will separate us from God, both now and in eternity. No amount of good deeds, or love for God and others, can take away our sin.

The Bible says, “...your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you..."

 - Isaiah 59:2

When Jesus died on the cross, He took our sins upon Himself, as our substitute, and paid the full penalty that we deserve for our sins. As a result of God’s love for us and grace (undeserved favor toward us), Jesus bridged the gap of separation between Him and us. Now, He offers all people forgiveness, cleansing, and an eternal, personal relationship with Himself, as a free gift.

The Bible says, “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God...”

 - 1 Peter 3:18

Jesus proved that He is “God the Son” by fulfilling Old Testament prophecies about the Messiah, performing miracles, claiming to be God, and rising from the dead. His resurrection proves He conquered sin and death. I can become a child of God and begin a personal relationship with Him through believing in Jesus Christ.

The Bible says, “...everyone who believes in Him [Jesus] receives forgiveness of sins through His name.”

 - Acts 10:43

  1. Admitting my guilt before God. “I am a sinner. Because I sin, I deserve separation from God.”

  2. Realizing my need. “I must stop trusting in my own righteousness (character and good deeds), to solve my problem of separation from holy God. I need a sinless Savior to take away my guilt and sin.”

  3. Trusting in Jesus Christ to be my Savior. “Jesus, I believe You are God the Son, who died and rose again. Thank You for Your love and sacrifice to pay the penalty for my sin. I now place my trust in You alone for eternal life. Thank you for forgiving me and giving me a personal and eternal relationship with You.”
