Precious Jewel

Kindred Spirits—

            You and I

Friends forever—

            Laugh or cry.

Near or far—

            It matters not.

A precious jewel—

            The friend I’ve got.

One Goal

To disagree is very hard…

“Am I not always right?!”

“Of course you’re not, you silly girl…

We walk by faith—not sight.” 1.

“Nor am I ‘one...without sin,’

I’ll not ‘cast the first stone.’ 2.

My righteousness is not complete,

‘Till faith sees its Heavenly home.”

“Until that time we both will pray

For greater spiritual light,

Greater love, overflowing grace,

For unity, versus flight.”

“Thank you for believing the best—

Thank you, for grace and caring.

Bringing glory to Christ, our Lord,

Is the one goal we are sharing.”

Hurts Unforgiven

My pleasant thoughts of you have been

interrupted by this ache…

I would really like to be free again,

the later is to hard to take.

The former mind of smiles and cheer,

of friendship –warm and clear,

Is clouded by the muddy waters

of hurts unforgiven, I fear.

I hurt you, yes. And you hurt me.

We didn’t mean to, though.

Apologies were spoken, but

the wounds were deep, as you know.

You backed away, withheld your love,

“And moved on” without me.

I stand alone and grieve to God—

How I miss what ought to be!

“ Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be

overwhelmed by excessive sorrow.  I urge you, therefore, to reaffirm your love

for him… in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of

his schemes.”    2 Corinthians 2:7,8,11

A Friend

I used to think a friend

Was one who knew my every woe—

Who told me all her secrets—

And, my thoughts would often know.

But now I’ve come to learn that

I must often bite my tongue.

Nor are secrets to be shared

The way I did when I was young.

All I need is give and take,

Someone who calls me, and I, you.

One who loves the Lord and listens,

Spurs me on toward God—as you do.

Friendship

Serve each other as God leads,

            sacrifice your time,

“Lay down your life” as Jesus did, 1.

and you’ll be a friend of mine.

No gossip do I wish to hear.

            no complaining should you say.

Only words which edify—

that hold my sin at bay.

Share your home; share God’s Word.

            show me how to live.

Be patient and believe the best

if I am slow to give.

Help me with my heavy burdens

            by your prayers for me.

I will do the same for you

            with bended heart and knee.

Christian friendships seek to love—

to trust God through life’s pain—

to point each other to the Savior,

            producing eternal gain.

Together

(a song)

Who will search for me, if I start to stray?

And, who will be my guide, if I lose the way?

Who will encourage me when I am down?

And, who will be my friend when family’s not around?

Yes, I do need you;  and, I think you need me!

            Won’t you come and take my hand;

No man can be an island.

Between the brethren, Christ prayed for unity.

One faith, one Lord, one family.

                        Together, joyfully!

Who can appreciate my answers to prayer?

I really do need to know that you care.

Who will rejoice with me since our God is so good?

Will you laugh and cry with me, as you should?

Yes, I do need you; And, I think you need me!

            Won’t you come and take my hand;

No man can be an island.

Between the brethren, Christ prayed for unity.

One faith, one Lord, one family.

                        Together, joyfully!

Who will be the one to pray for you today?

And who will help you study Scripture every day?

Who’ll give time and energy to serve our fellow man?

Who will help you share our Savior’s love with whom you can?

Yes, I do need you; And, I think you need me!

            Won’t you come and take my hand;

No man can be an island.

Between the brethren, Christ prayed for unity.

One faith, one Lord, one family.

                        Together, joyfully!
